The large bulletin board planted in the middle of the gardens was, from what Myron had seen of Beacon, the most obvious place for any kind of advertisement. The various notes and posters stood out nearly as much as the fountain in the courtyard, and his did even more as it contrasted with the mostly white papers:

After he was done pinning it to the cork, he took a step back to have a better look at it and combed a hand through his hair before cringing. Now it had to be even more of a mess than when he woke up. To be fair, it was Monday, and he was still recuperating from that stupid all-nighter three days ago. He had a dull ache between the eyes that very clearly meant "your sleep schedule was brutally murdered", and it had convinced him to hit snooze one too many times.
The result was a bedhead that could make him pass as a porcupine faunus, plus the "lazy" version of his uniform - namely the shoes and suits thrown over a white T-shirt, with the tie attached by a hairclip... just enough to fool the stricter teachers from afar.

This wasn't quite enough to dampen his mood, as he was finally setting up a project that had been in the back of his mind since his arrival. As soon as Vlithra, one of his only acquaintances so far, had mentioned a poker night in the dorms, the idea had stuck. It would be an occasion to actually get to know some of the students, who he hadn't payed attention to until now since training, exploring the facilities and studying (or trying to) had eaten up all his time. If he was lucky, he could even make some pocket money out of the party and ideally meet other gamblers to play with again.

As he examined the ad one last time for missed details, he mentally went through his checklist again. It ranged from obvious things like cards and tokens, to "destroy all proofs" entries like alcohol and a cocktail shaker, which he had yet to smuggle in somehow. He also needed people to help install and possibly liven the night up. Drawing a pen from his pocket, he added his Scroll number to the bottom of the sheet and finally deemed it satisfying with a nod.

At times like this, Ax felt like she was little more than a walking disaster with a face. She'd been asked three days ago to put up a notice on the bulletin board out by the fountain advertising the new weekday open workshop hours to new students. She'd managed to forget to do it every evening since! She'd been halfway through combat drills when she remembered the slip of paper sitting in the pocket on the front of her guitar case, and she hastily made a detour out toward the fountain before heading back to her dorm, still clad in combat attire and carrying her guitar case over her shoulder since she wasn't coming from a class.

The gardens were, as usual, a hotspot of activity thanks in part to the weather getting nicer as the seasons progressed. There were students out and about with blankets laid out, hammocks stretching between trees. Others were hustling along the concrete pathways to catch classes. She paid none of them any particular mind until she finally reached her destination. She stepped up to the bulletin board right up beside a male student and wordlessly stuck the paper to the board near the center, taking a moment to make sure it wasn't too lopsided and that the edges didn't cover up anything else that seemed important.

She gave herself a little nod, satisfied. Better late than never. She cast a brief glance at the boy setting something up beside her before she took a look at the flier he'd posted. She immediately took interest, and she spoke up as the boy leaned in to scrawl a scroll ID onto the page he'd put up.

"Innnnteresting," Ax mused, her lustrous hair swinging behind her shoulder as she turned her head to look over at Myron. She gave him a polite, affable smile. She didn't recognize him, but they apparently already had something common judging by his flier. She had always loved a chance to play a really good game of poker... this could've been a good chance to make some new connections.

"You organizing this yourself, or do you already got a few people interested?" Ax asked casually.

Myron didn't interrupt his thoughts when someone stopped beside him to display their own thing. A simple glance at a stranger could lead to awkward greetings, and even normal ones weren't his cup of tea. If it was a potential player, well, that was the flier's whole purpose. But the choice was taken out of his hands right before he could walk away, with a feminine voice too quiet to be addressed to anyone else. He nearly smacked his forehead on the board, but he wasn't about to drive away the first interested student. Or at least, he hoped that she was one.

"Yeah? I'd hope so", he threw back at her first comment. The ad was probably eye-catching enough, then. He took the time to finish writing before answering her question.
"No one knows for now. I've planned on blackmailing people into helping later", he claimed half-seriously and turned to her, mildly surprised at her very flashy features while he gave her a once-over. Were those feathers? It occured to him that everyone he'd met in Beacon so far was faunus. Her looks fortunately alleviated his first concern, as her getup was definitely not that of a staff member.

Myron was still wondering how short he could cut the encounter when his eyes landed on the case she carried, which had the shape of a musical instrument - or a weirdly built mace, you never knew. He stared at it just long enough to start being awkward, ultimately decided it was worth a try, and straightened up with a suddenly brighter expression.
"And actually, I was planning on hiring you, too! You play music, right?", he added hastily. Speakers were well out of his budget now, so a performer was the best option. He wouldn't even have to make a playlist!

If she'd slowed her roll a little she might've gathered the impression that this boy wasn't really in the mood for chit-chat. His hair was disheveled and she was pretty sure she could see a hint of red in the whites of his eyes. His outfit was pretty thrown-together... all-and-all, he looked like a pretty typical college kid at the moment. It was too bad that by the time she picked up any sort of impression about him she'd already opened her mouth.

She rose her eyebrows at his claim that he was going to blackmail a few helpers, but the smile on her lips remained and she soon exhaled a soft breath that sounded like a hint of a laugh in reply. She cocked her hips and planted her cybernetic palm on her waist when he turned to look at her. She had never been one to shy from attention, especially from someone who looked at her like they'd never seen her before. Ax was tall, fit, and she dressed more like she was heading out to play a show than heading home after a day of combat drills. She wouldn't have blamed anyone for staring... though she soon noticed that he wasn't really staring at her.

She blinked when he spoke again, caught slightly off guard. She had been playing guitar all throughout Beacon since her first year. She played in the gardens, on the roofs, in classrooms... more people probably knew her for that than her presence in any classroom. His claim that he had been planning to hire her struck her as a little dubious when spoken in the same sentence as a question about whether or not she actually played music, though.

"Well, yeah," she began to reply, only to end up hesitating as she broke eye contact. She had been interested because she was hoping to play some cards and make some friends. She couldn't very well play music the whole time and play cards at the same time... but maybe they could work something out?

"I'm... open to ideas, I guess? This uh, might work better if you just get someone to DJ or something instead. You know, make a playlist or something? A night of live performance from anyone good won't likely run cheap. Then again, I don't really know your budget so..." she shrugged her shoulders gently, trailing off.

Myron deflated a bit at her pretty obvious reluctance, and more after she talked about his budget. Because he definitely couldn't pay anyone decently unless he was willing to resell Dust provided by Beacon, which sounded both very profitable and illegal. He'd think about it more later. Besides, the way she talked suggested that she was good herself - or thought she was. Playing for a small audience didn't seem to motivate her in the slightest. Although, if she was an experienced musician, then she would know how to hype people better than him. He thought it best to let the subject go before she became totally disinterested.

"Maybe I shouldn't have brought that up, sorry. Not confident in my ability to make a good playlist, though", he sighed, dropping his enthusiasm as quickly as it came. Selecting music that fit the atmosphere and appealed to everyone would inevitably be a hassle.

"And I think you're overestimating me, miss. It's gonna take place in one dorm, maybe two if I'm feeling shady. Definitely no room for a DJ... not that I have the gear for it anyway. The academy might, however..." His gaze drifted up and away as he got sidetracked, but he caught himself when he stared right at the sun. He rubbed at his eyes and shook his head to focus back on her.

"I'm still glad to have at least one guest. We can play War if nothing else", he smirked. That would make for a weird time.
"I mean, are you good at cards? Or lucky? That works too." He tried to judge for himself at the same time, which wasn't hard when taking into account her fancy colors, tattoo, original outfit and confident pose. Appearance wasn't everything, but hers screamed risk-taker.

She hadn't meant to sound discouraging, but she saw it in his body language as he reacted to her words. Her eyebrows rose slightly and the gears in her mind started turning, trying to think of a more uplifting approach to this dialogue. She quickly shook her head at his apology, raising a hand as if to dismiss it, her lips parting to speak.

"I could-"

She stopped abruptly, realizing that she was about to start talking over the guy. That would've been pretty rude of her. As he continued to speak she shook her head again, this time more vigorously. She supposed her suggestion could have been worded in a way that better reflected her intent. She smiled awkwardly at his suggestion that they play War, only to eagerly pounce on her chance to clarify what she'd meant and make a suggestion more suitable to a meetup that didn't have any sort of formal budget.

"I'm alright at cards," Ax answered, reluctant to talk a big game about her skills. She'd have a better chance of impressing people and going home with a positive net gain if people assumed she was decent, mediocre, or (ideally) bad at cards. She knew enough about poker and blackjack to know that there were a lot of people better than her at both, but she was definitely no slouch when it came to casino games that had a skill element. Of course, her semblance was... a complication. She would have to open up about it if this guy was serious about letting her participate. She'd definitely be banned forever if she simply neglected to bring it up and others found out on their own.

"And I mean, I could literally just bring some speakers over, hook them up to someone's scroll and play a shuffling playlist? No need for an actual DJ, I just meant like... an informal DJ. Someone who is in charge of the playlist, maybe someone who takes requests on a piece of paper or something and makes sure the music keeps going on a loop. Doesn't have to be a fancy or professional setup."

Myron had somehow not driven her away despite the shaky first impression. Good, because her short and non-commital "I'm alright at cards" was promising. Whether she was only alright or better had yet to be determined, but she at least knew to play cards close to her chest. Definitely one of the best skills to have, both as a Huntsman and a gambler.
And she just offered to bring speakers? This woman was a godsend.

"Really, you have speakers?", he blurted dumbly when she was done speaking. Of course she did, she just said she was a musician! He physically waved the stupid question aside. "I mean, you'd lend some? I hope the chance to be a part of this incredible event will be enough compensation... or failing that, the free drinks. I really can't afford much else if I want anything left to bet", he tried to be as enthusiastic as possible, but the thought of his near-empty pockets left a bitter smile on his face.

"I... kinda not looked at costs when I started planning. Same thing goes for any kind of DJ, unless you have a really altruistic friend with a good taste in music. Cause I got neither", he complained as he turned back to the flier. This sounded a lot more self-pitying than he intended, but it was true all the same. Her idea of a DJ was still appealing, and if she didn't have another miracle to drop on him, he might as well add it below the announcement.

She realized a little into what she'd said that she was maybe getting a little ahead of herself. After all... she didn't actually know this guy. For all she knew, he could've been a total creep, or otherwise someone she generally wouldn't get along with at a party. It probably wasn't wise for her to go talking about this like she was about to seriously commit to it, but by the time this thought occurred to her, the words had already left her lips.

"Er," she hesitated as the boy spoke up, seemingly hopeful now. How silly his question about the speakers might've been didn't occur to her in the moment. Despite her hesitation, a sort of sheepish smile started to creep onto her face as he mentioned free drinks. He was probably just talking about soda-pop or something, right? It'd have been preeeeetty ballsy to crack open real drinks at an event he was advertising publicly on academy grounds.

"Well, I mean... I'm open to the idea at least, but I'm not committing to anything so far. But I mean... if you get some other biters for your event," Ax rose a hand and pinched the tip of one of the feathers on her ear, fidgeting a little with it awkwardly. It was probably better to sound noncommittal in this situation...

"I'm Ax, by the way," she added quickly, extending her metal-plated, synthetic right hand to him. She didn't want to seem too uncomfortable, and the easiest way to get more comfortable with this guy was to get some of the formalities out of the way.

"I figure if I'm gonna seriously consider scratching your back like this, we should at least introduce one another, yeah? I mean, I can just call you 'dude' or something..."

He finished scribbling down "looking for a DJ too" below his number, in the fanciest font he could write to match the rest of the ad. Unfortunately, he'd only needed to open his mouth to make the now-named Ax undecisive again. Was she afraid to be the only guest? If she was hyped initially, then it would also draw other people, surely.

Her introducing herself was at least a good sign, although Myron really hoped that it wouldn't lead to exchanging more information than their names. While he put his pen away again, he took a brief look at a metallic hand that seemed far too thin to be just an equipment over a real one. The fake limb didn't prevent him from shaking it lazily, but still prompted the random thought that his Semblance wouldn't help if she tried to crush his hand. You never knew.

"Cool, that's easy to remember", he appraised her name. Her last comment made him wonder if she hated introductions as much as himself. "Dude" wasn't a very flattering nickname however. "Thanks for offering, but 'dude or something' is a bit too long for my taste. I'm Myron."

He still wondered why Ax didn't want to give a definitive answer. Maybe his flier gave the wrong message after all...
"There's no guest list if that's what you're worried about, you can just pop in anytime without a fuss", he clarified. "I'm not planning some VIP thing for seasoned players only... Heck, I'm gonna ask a blind guy who doesn't know how to play poker." And Bartok had better come, because Myron had spent far too long finding a set of cards with embossed symbols.

It was a complicated and problematic day for Rouge, he wasn’t sure why and he wasn’t sure how it was going to end. He spent sometime in class but forgot his pen and pencils so he had to write all of his notes in red and yellow highlighter. At lunch he managed to burn off a good portion of his pant leg when he accidentally kicked over a student pack, and causing the dust bullets in it to go off. Now finally Rouge was outside, half of his pants missing, signature red sash around his waist, and his electric guitar strapped to his back. He was wanting and needing to practice and let out some pent up emotions from the day. That is until he tripped over a rock and landed face first on the ground in front of the notice board.

Before it happened he noticed two students talking to each other and by the looks of it they were discussing something about music and cards. One of the students looked familiar, and if he was right she was either a second or a third year because he recognized her attire and seen her wear it around the training rooms and the workshop maybe. The other student though was a total mystery. He seemed like a nice fellow, and looks pretty young so possibly a first year. Now with Rouge on the ground all he could do was sign and slowly lift himself up. ”Just Great. Just a great day only getting better.”

To say the very least, Rouge was very upset. Wearing a slight scowl with his eyebrows low he looked up and the two and slowly rose to a stand, hands brushing away dust and dirt from his shirt, pants, and sash. ”Apologies. I should be keeping a better look out for...” The musician looked past the two at the notice board and saw the new poster. Casino Night. “Tripping hazards. There is going to be a casino night, tonight? Sounds like fun.”

Ax's fingertips sparked, a stray bit of static snapping between their hands when their hands touched. Ax didn't seem to notice, and the stray zap wouldn't likely hurt... though it might've been startling to someone who didn't expect it. She gave him an easygoing smile and a little, appreciative nod of her head as he introduced himself.

"Well, that's reassuring," Ax said, her eyes turning away as she contemplated what Myron had said about this event so far. She wanted to play, and she was open to helping too. She just didn't want to commit to something without the option of backing out in case it turned out she'd forgotten some other commitment she made. Being a Beacon student was pretty demanding of her time and attention after all, and having an active social life could really cut down on how much time she had for herself.

"Well, I can say this much - I'm interested, and assuming I don't have anything else going on at the time, I'm probably in," Ax noted, her eyes flicking back to him. This was a clear effort to be reassuring. Also, she knew a blind guy. There weren't very many of those around Beacon, so chances were high that Myron was talking about someone she already knew.

She might've stopped to contemplate the awkward logistics of ensuring a blind person would be able to play cards fairly and comfortably if something else didn't come up. Or rather come down. Her eyes turned and her head twisted towards motion in her peripherals as a guy with dark red hair showed up and... promptly bit the dust. Ax's initial reaction was concern. She turned on her heel and took a step forward, moving with intent to help the guy up only to hesitate before she actually could. He seemed to not be in a good mood, and she didn't want to come off patronizing to someone who could probably stand back up on their feet without any extra help.

"...oof," Ax grimaced sympathetically over at Rouge. He looked familiar, but she didn't actually know him. Then she blinked at the way he slipped himself into the conversation, surprised. Maybe it was an effort to quickly distract them from his blunder? She'd have been embarrassed in his position.

"You uh... you okay, dude?" Ax asked, ignoring the question for now.

The spark made his arm jolt a bit, and while it was only surprise and not pain, he still made a show of shaking it off after he let go of Ax's hand. He raised an eyebrow at her, trying to tell if it was intended or not. Because if it was, he'd make sure to freeze one or two fingers at the first opportunity.

His shoulders sagged in relief when she gave as positive an answer as he was expecting to get. "Cool. Looking forward to winning your money", he sassed. "Don't forget to tell your friends... but not the teachers." He turned to leave with a wink, but stopped to stare at whoever just threw himself in front of them. And who also had a case like Ax's on his back. Myron stood there pondering his luck long enough for the man to get up and start talking.

And now it would seem awfully rude to leave. Or would it? The flier was here, as was Ax, who could brief him on whatever he wanted to know. She'd asked if he was okay, so Myron could just let her handle it. Then again, he was looking for a DJ and/or a musician. He refrained from asking as bluntly as he did with Ax, though, in case the new potential guest was as reluctant as her. He was obviously in a bad mood, too. From his words to his face to his gestures, everything screamed "I don't like Mondays". He didn't dwell on his misfortune, however, and went straight to the more interesting topic instead. Myron could appreciate that.

"It's on Friday. I wouldn't dare make any kind of plans for the worst day of the week", he corrected. "If you're interested, I hope your account has a better balance than you." Maybe he should have stopped before that last sentence. He'd avoided getting snarky with Ax, so why couldn't he keep his foot out of his mouth a little longer?

Embarrassed slightly with his performance Rouge wanted to have his head down, he wasn’t sure what was going on and the girl... She looks familiar. She gave a genuine look and her question sounded real enough that Rouge gave a nod as he started to brush the dirt out of his hair. Rouge knew he must’ve had a class or two or maybe just seen her walking about but couldn’t place it. “Yes, It has been a difficult day unfortunately. Also, aren’t you Jamie N’Drix, well I think that’s the name.”

The other student would’ve made Rouge raise an eyebrow if he currently wasn’t pulling pebbles out from his clothes now, the student was younger and from Rouge’s guess either a first or second year. The musician didn’t have a name to go off of though he could tell that this student was in charge of the event. Rouge watched as he eyes stared a bit at the case on Rouge’s back, which meant he was either interested or curious on what lays inside. Then he started talking. He was a bit mouthy and honest, something Rouge enjoyed and actually caused him to smirk and almost forget the day he is having.”On Friday? I don’t have much going on but I also don’t play cards often or actually much of them at all. I’m sure you wouldn’t want that at your table.” Rouge was honest with the fact that he doesn’t play cards, now the reasoning behind it is because he has gotten threaded for his poker face, often dissuading others with that could possibly be in his hand, so two friends have basically told him no more cards. Time to break that rule.

The two possibly didn’t even know his name, which wouldn’t surprise him because of the massive amount of students at the school. Rouge dropped the smirk, leaving his small smile, and offered a wave to the pair. His hair slightly patted and cleaned out was now swept backwards to show more of his face and any dirt or grime on his uniform was mostly off, even his silk sash was cleaned exceptionally well. ”Well I do apologize for my disorganized and terrible footing. I’m Rouge Ako.”

Rouge glanced at the female’s instrument case, maybe string instrument like bass or guitar and now he wondered if she knew how to play. “I’m guessing you’ll be going? Maybe play during the night? Or you haven’t decided yet?” He was honestly curious but he also could guess that could be her weapon. Or maybe both, he just saw that recently with a boy named Felix with his computer guitar.

Most people Ax had met recently hadn't really reacted to any incidental static from touching the various metal surfaces on her person. She supposed maybe she should start warning people that might happen - while Myron didn't seem to be in any pain, the raised eyebrow said plenty. Too bad she didn't really get a chance to explain it. Eh, she could always mention it later, if they both didn't simply forget about it first.

She briefly glanced aside at Myron as he replied to the stranger's question, and she had to make an active effort to not seem too amused by his glib remark. She might've known the game pretty well, but she supposed she never could claim to have the best poker face. She visibly pressed her lips together briefly as she tried to stop herself from snickering.

She seemed to find Rouge's comment less amusing when it was his turn to talk, Ax's lips twitching into a faint scowl. How did people keep mixing her up with that chick? This was probably the third or fourth time! Rouge's commentary about his alleged lack of experience rang immediately of false modesty to her for some reason. She raised a brow, seemingly unimpressed. There was no way she'd let herself get hustled by a guy like this. She'd play cautiously against him if it came down to it.

"Haven't decided," Ax said with a noncommittal shrug, raising her hands and crossing her arms over her chest. She wasn't sure what to make of this guy, really. Myron had seemed a little more straightforward - he wasn't necessarily the most enthusiastic guy she'd met recently, but he seemed a little more... normal? Meanwhile, Rouge struck her as a bit theatrical and therefore a bit insincere. It was a little early for mind games, wasn't it? With that in mind, she exhaled a brief sigh and decided to elaborate a little more. She'd need to tell the host about her semblance anyway... that, and she kind of wanted to save herself the secondhand embarrassment of seeing Rouge continue to act coy or disingenuous. Maybe he'd be more down-to-earth if he knew how perceptive she could be.

"I have a passive semblance that I don't have total control over. Short version: I'm basically an empath. It could give me what some people might understandably see as an unfair advantage in a game like Poker. So honestly, I don't even know if anyone will want to let me play yet. Especially if there's gonna be real stakes," Ax continued. This was all the more reason not to get her hopes up about this whole thing, she supposed. She'd had plenty of friends and tables that let her play anyway before, but it could be hit-or-miss with strangers. Higher stakes tables tended to be less cool about it.

"It's not an elite club", Myron clarified for the second time. Maybe he should indicate that on the flier? He frowned at it and wondered how much he would need to write below to answer anyone's questions. He was beginning to regret not printing a plain wall of text instead of trying to make it pretty.
"If people aren't confident in their skills, there will probably be a no stake table. Possibly. Maybe. If necessary... I'll add it to my checklist", he offered reluctantly, the idea clearly not appealing to him. However, it was still better to give the more casual players a chance to enjoy themselves. Not to mention those short on Lien, who were one of the reasons why he didn't just bring people to a casino in Vale.

His new recruit had finished cleaning himself up, and despite doing a pretty good job, his ravaged pant leg still marred his appearance. "Don't worry, happens to the worst of us", Myron answered playfully, emboldened by Rouge's false apology. The man got some credit for taking his "great day", his fall and the jibe in stride. Although Ax didn't seem to think the same, not fond of being mixed up with another artist, what some people would take as a compliment.
When Rouge asked if she was going to play, Myron cringed a bit, fearing that she would take it as bad as when he did, since apparently she was back to "not decided yet". But instead of fidgetting, looking away and being a normal, awkward person like before, she straight up blurted out her Semblance to them.

Myron could understand why - and appreciate that - she would feel the need to tell them. He still threw both arms in the air in frustration with a long sigh. Of all the students who could be here, at this hour, interested by the event... it had to be the one with a cheaty, and undetectable, and uncontrollable Semblance.
"Just my luck", he huffed and pinched his nose bridge. "Well I really hope you feel my annoyance right now... I suppose others can't prevent it either, huh?" He wasn't going to ban anyone after he'd just stated twice that the event was open to everyone, but letting her play would be a scam like no other. "Please tell me you're normal", he then asked with a glance at Rouge.

"Normal?" Kailyn asked with a soft chuckle as she drifted up to the board. "Hate t'break it to ya, bud, but if you're looking for normal, you're in the wrong place." She shrugged before squatting down sideways on the bulletin board as though it were the ground and looked at the flyers that were pinned to it. "Case in point," she added, gesturing at herself. "I'm in a love-hate relationship with the concept of touching the ground."

Then Myron's poster caught her eye. "Ooh, there's gonna be poker? Dude, I am so down for that!" As if to emphasize her point, she rolled over and dangled her legs sideways off the edge of the board while looking up - or was it sideways? She never knew whether to use directional words from everyone else's perspective or her own - at Myron.

She didn’t seem happy when he assumed her name, that more than likely means he either got it wrong, or horribly wrong. It was impulsive for him to say that without allowing her to give a proper introduction, something for him to apologize to her at a later point. Rouge’s shoulders sagged slightly when she expressed that she hasn’t decided to play, the Scarlet Musician was almost hoping he could listen to other’s music. He shouldn't be surprised though since playing music is personal to the player and sometimes its not for everyone’s ears. ”Ah. Maybe one day I’ll hear you play.” She then spoke of her semblance, an ability that let her feel emotions which sounded interesting and completely different from Rouge’s. She explained how it wouldn’t be fair for her to play which was inconvenient but he wasn’t sure why it would really affect those playing. “I don’t see a reason why you can’t play though, you can feel emotions but wouldn’t everyone just be enjoying the game? Especially if there are quite a bit of people there?”

Myron on the other hand gave a glance at Rouge’s bare leg and scorched pant leg, causing the musician to raise a brow as he said it happened to everyone. A bit doubtful but Rouge remembers early in his first year a Faunus who was accident prone, usually one way or another getting himself in trouble or hurt. “I would be surprised if this has happened more than once and would rather it happen to the worse of us.” It was blunt but true, if this day would happen to an enemy than that would be helpful. Than Myron spoke off about his... displeasure in the situation? Or maybe it was surprise and sudden burst that made it sound like it. Then he directed his attention to Rouge, asking if he was normal.

Rouge remembered his years in this school and dangers and troubles he and his team used to get in, and now he can’t even train without destroying a room or play and ruin the song. A few times waking up in bed and glass shards and spikes were pointed outwards away from his body as if it was protecting him, a problem he needed to solve soon or else he would run out of sheets. He didn’t feel normal certainly. So Rouge opened his mouth and words came out, except not his mouth. A fourth person has arrived, and she was certainly interesting. The way she sat on the face of the board and expressed her dislike for the ground, which only gave him more questions. ”Im not sure if I qualify for normal, all I can do is make glass.” With that Rouge brought forth an open hand and glass began to sprout outwards, forming a floral arrangement on top of his hand full of many different colors. And he brought his other hand up and then glass object formed in that one, like a guitar pick, a glass dagger, and a tiny Rouge playing his violin. “Not sure if this qualifies.”

Ax didn't really stop to consider that she was back around to sounding noncommittal in front of Myron - she hadn't actually changed her mind, she just... wasn't sure how she felt about this guy falling on his face and hitting them with this transparently rehearsed-sounding intro. She also wasn't sure she appreciated this new guy's apparent and sudden interest in whether or not she was going. Hadn't he just mistaken her for someone else? Was she supposed to be thrilled to make his acquaintance?

Ax's sharp blue eyes flicked quickly over to Myron as he threw his hands up, her eyebrows furrowing as a brief wave of annoyance washed over her. By the time he'd shifted his attention back to Rouge, Ax had crossed her arms over her chest and turned her nose up to look away, a hint of a sneer forming on her face. Ax took in a slow deep breath, aware of the fact in the back of her mind that his words had struck a nerve - he'd wanted her to catch his mood, and it looked like he got his wish.

While Ax was now visibly irritated, she'd managed to not bite his head off at least. She still felt like a rude comment was on the tip of her tongue and she didn't want to take it out on anyone else, Instead of acknowledging Rouge's attempt at reassuring her, Ax let out a quiet breath in an effort to steady her temper. Just when Ax needed it most, a distraction arrived: a pretty girl that apparently saw gravity as more of a suggestion than a law. Ax wasn't really sure how to react, but Kailyn's neat little party trick seemed to defuse enough of Ax's irritation where it no longer showed on her face as she squinted at her flailing... dangling... what even was actually happening with her legs? Ax blinked, shook her head slightly, and then turned her head back toward Myron and Rouge.

Well, now that she was thinking again... Ax had a choice to make. She could answer questions and offer reassurances about her semblance under normal cases, but why bother explaining anything? Myron was now striking her as a little quick to assume and judge, she barely knew Rouge, and she had no idea who this chick on the notice board was. It wasn't like anyone was actually entitled to an explanation, and Ax definitely had better things to do. Ax let out a breath of air that nearly sounded like a laugh, and she gently shook her head.

"Right, whatever," Ax's body turned away and she raised her hand as if to wave goodbye.

"Have fun with your normal casino night, full of people who are obviously normal," Ax said, her tone dripping with false cheer as she gave Myron an insincere smile followed by a roll of her eyes, clearly intending to leave on that note.

Myron stared hard at Ax's back, like he could freeze her in place. She couldn't go now, and leave him with weird and weirder! One was sitting on a vertical board after leaving a big nice footprint on one of the pinned sheets, the other held a glinting flower in his hand but looked like he'd been fighting Grimm in a suit for hours. Unfortunately, he didn't have time to choose his words.

"Sure. Feel free to join us if you ever feel too extraordinary", he drawled, knocking on his flier. And although he wasn't so miserable as to start begging her - which would certainly make things even worse - he still tried to convey some sort of 'I want to stay' feeling to Ax. He was no mentalist however, and he'd been so desperate to leave just before that she'd surely felt it. Ugh... what a convoluted Semblance. He could see why she didn't have perfect control over it. Weren't they supposed to be beneficial? Empathy sounded more like a bane. And speaking of Semblances...

Next, Myron stared at Rouge and Miss Helium Balloon, with less panic and more incredulity in his eyes. "Did you all just... show me your Semblances literally seconds after we met? Aren't they meant to be, like, secret weapons?... I don't know, just seems weird", he balked, hesitated, then added lamely: "You do you, I guess", before turning to the still upside-down (sideways-side?) woman.

"Anyway, I'm not gonna pitch the whole thing again, HB, so you can read the flier. And Rouge, since I apparently just lost a musical talent, I gotta ask if you play too? I'm in dire need of a soundscape." Myron prayed to the Gods that Rouge wouldn't react like Ax, because if he managed to attract and repel three people in as many minutes, he'd consider suicide as a fallback career option.

"C'ya!" Kailyn called after the other girl with a wave.

"'HB'?" She mused at Myron's nickname, scratching her chin pensively. "Gotta say, that one's new. Props to ya for that - it's better than 'Gravity Girl', at least. As fer showin' ya my Semblance, I basically travel exclusively by floating whenever I can, so it's not really a big deal. 'Sides," she added, "s'not like we're training to fight each other later - we're here to kill Grimm, so knowing each other's superpowers seems t'me like the smart play."

The beautiful glass creations in Rouge’s hand crumbled away into dust as he watch the female begin to walk away, he didn’t need to exhaust himself as he already showed away his ability, not caring who saw it. Being a student here meant he was going to show what he could do to most of his peers and staff at one point or another, and for honest’s sake he wasn’t even showing what he really could do. A sigh escaped his lips as he had a feeling he was at partial fault for her reason to leave and the rest going to Myron for his outburst. He could see why she decided to leave and if her semblance was as she said it was, the irritation and anger she felt from Myron might have had an effect, even he could pick that up and he was pretty far from the normal empathic feelings most people have. His red eyes dimmed slightly as he came to this thought, the ability to feel what other’s felt could make things difficult for one’s life. Though as quickly as they dimmed they lit up as he remembered something. ”Hey, I never got your name!” He yelled out, hoping her ears would catch it before she was out of range.

Then he heard Myron speak of showing semblances weird then putting it off which was slightly irksome. Rouge was used to hearing the term weird from others when they speak about Rouge behind his back when he first went to Signal. He would rather know potential teammates’ abilities to better help the unit all around, keeping it a secret could hinder the team’s ability because one person decided they didn’t want to play show and tell. So Rouge straighten himself up as he looked slightly down at Myron, not as an inferior but because of the height difference. ”Keeping it a secret won’t help you at all, or your friends if any of you got in a fight. How would you know if you’re not in their way or completely blocking their full potential, how would they know any of that about you?” He wasn’t yelling or talking with anger, in fact it was all monotone and straight to the point, showing his statement wasn’t fueled by emotions but rather just facts. Myron spoke of Rouge playing his instrument for the party, which felt as if it was out of nowhere, but he didn’t hold that against Myron. Maybe that student had agreed on playing before Rouge approaching, and Rouge could feel Gilded Rose weigh slightly heavier as if it was anticipating it’s chance to play. But Rouge decided to think about it and instead help the poor student out with a gift.

The musician reached into a side compartment of his guitar case and pulled out a few hard drives and his scroll as well, already pulling up his music. Recently Rouge has been having issues, not with his sound or anything but his control when playing his instruments. It’s one way or another led to him breaking something, not an instrument, but something else. ”I don’t know if I’ll play live since it’s been a bit hard recently. I do have a few hard drives filled with my music from all of my instruments and I have them stored on my scroll and I can send it to you as well.”

Then his eyes went to... Gravity Girl? He needed that name too because it felt very rude to call her by that nickname in his head. “I agree with your claim about fighting together against Grimm, though I don’t know your name. Are you also a first year by chance because I don’t recall seeing you around.”

There was nothing Myron could do using conscious thought to influence Ax's semblance - the bird had left the proverbial building and she was no longer interested in trying to read or interpret the emotional signals of those partaking in this conversation. Ax had done what she'd come here to do as far as she was concerned, though Myron's nonchalant farewell in the face of her passive-aggression served to irritate her further. Ax liked to think she was pretty good at influencing people, but the fact that Myron didn't seem to get the hint that he'd struck a nerve only made her feel more annoyed with the situation. She supposed she could've just told him, but she wasn't sure it'd be worth the effort.

Ax's heels clicked along the walkway as she exited, stage left. She raised a hand in brief acknowledgment of Kailyn's farewell, but didn't otherwise slow. She aimed to tune out the chatter behind her as she walked away, definitely more grumpy than before. Her feather-tipped ears perked up briefly as she heard Rouge's voice a little more loudly behind her a few seconds later. She slowed, turning so she was walking away backwards, squinting to see if the words were directed at her. She then raised her hands to the sides of her mouth before shouting a single word back towards him.

"Ax!"

She turned back around at that, and she didn't look back again.
Ax L. Rose has left the building.

It was hard to believe that Ax had just dropped that bomb and left. She didn't even give a definitive answer, so Myron couldn't know what to do with the information. There wasn't much to do anyway... If she ever went to a casino, she'd make a killing for sure. How would one accomodate for an empath at such an event? Was it possible to bluff with emotions? That could be an idea. Simply breaking her Aura was another, but he wasn't about to torture people as an entry ticket.
The thought crossing his mind was already disturbing.

Myron frowned and put his hands in his pockets, an unconscious defensive posture prompted by the complication, plus his lack of counter arguments to Rouge and HB. "I guess... I never gave much thought about later. Never fought with anyone either", he answered them, thought about his words and rectified: "I mean, anyone on my side, or a team."
Huntsmen indeed trained to fight mostly Grimm, yet they were going to spar against other students for four years, not to mention the possibility to take part in tournaments. "There's still an awful lot of fighting each other in our training. Also, my Semblance is less conspicuous than yours", he shook his head, seeing their point but still not about to give them his CV.

At least, one piece of good news came from his new sponsor, pulling out probably enough hard drives to cover the whole night. Although it would be a bit too lazy to play only one artist, it was definitely a good start. "If it fits the mood enough, then sure, why not?", Myron brightened. "That'd be a great help, since I may have nailed speakers free of charge too."

Kailyn waved lazily at Ax as she walked off to wherever she was going.

It seemed a little sad to her that - what was his name, actually? - hadn't ever had a team before. "No team? Like, ever? That sounds rough - I'm real glad I had backup when I was comin' up, but I guess not everyone's that lucky."

Okay, it was time to reassume adherence to normative gravitation. Turning a lazy half-cartwheel off the sign, Kailyn came to rest on her feet, the right way up. "It's not like the full scope or tactical implications of my Semblance are obvious, even if you know in broad strokes what it is," she offered with a shrug. "'Sides, I ain't worried about being 'top of the class' or whatever. I'd prefer to have a little fun while I'm here, she tapped the poster, "since knowing how to do that will be important later, too." Leaning against the signboard, careful not to obstruct the poster, she raised a fist up for each of the boys to bump. "Anyhoo, nicknames are cool and all, but I'm Kailyn, and you guys are?..."

Even without Kailyn’s, no longer nicknamed Gravity Girl in Rouge’s head, comment of Myron having no team, it was obvious from his position and how he spoke of not fighting anyone or with anyone. Rouge didn’t want to fight him on that he could more than likely find random person and ask to spar with, in fact Rouge is a common sparring partner most third and second years use because of his own lack of a team and his ability to provide a more accurate fight with the unpredictable nature of his semblance. Though Rouge wasn’t here to invite the student to a sparring match but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t offer or accept a match with Myron at a later point, he certainly looked like with a few good hours each match might give him the chance to grow and match up with a team of other first years.

Though with that thought of helping create a team of first years for the kid to join Gilded Rose felt heavier with a sudden weight of guilt, it’s now feeling like a case full of sand and causing him to lay it gently on the cobbled floor. I’m sure you’ll find a group, they may not be likeminded but they’ll definitely help you grow. Mince certainly did.” The soft smile of his face was fake because even though the statement was very true, it was said with memories of failure. “Though I can’t wait to see what you’re hiding during one of the many sparring matches you’ll have this year.”

Rouge was caught off guard when Kailyn brought up the fact that keeping herself afloat did not encompass her whole ability, which gave Rouge an idea to work on. When she asked for Rouge’s and Myron’s names he realized he must’ve introduced himself before she arrived, she probably felt a bit out of the loop not that the musician could tell because she hid it very well behind the smile and raised fist. ”I’m Rouge Ako, third year. I don’t believe we’ve met. This is actually one of the first times I’ve pulled myself out of the class or training.” He responded kindly to her and also raised a fist to connect with her’s. In reality he was kicked out of the training hall and library, the staff and teachers telling him to get out and make friends made it weirdly emotional.

Maybe "never" was a strong word. "Yeah, I went to Pharos and... kinda skipped the year when teams were made", he offered as an explanation and let them fill the holes themselves. He had a feeling that mentioning he outright quit combat training wouldn't earn him brownie points with two Beacon students.
Myron had actually worked with other students at Signal, when he was tacked onto a random team for group exercises, but he usually did his own thing. Maybe because he was better at one-on-one, or maybe that was the cause of his specialization. Either way, he hadn't even thought about team tactics for more than a year, but the idea held some merit.

It was true that small displays like theirs didn't detail their abilities. Myron could guess at their Semblances, but being on the receiving end of them would be entirely different. Rouge was right, the prospect did tickle his curiosity. "Kailyn", he repeated to commit it to memory. "I'll still call you Helium Balloon if I can't remember it." If she made a habit of floating around then it wouldn't be too hard to remember her.

The disheveled boy raised his fist too but hesitated. Now that Rouge mentioned it, he did need to find some people to spar with. He wasn't in a state to fight right now, but maybe he could secure some sparring partners for another day. With that thought, he pulled his other hand out of his pocket and offered a fist to both of them.
"I'm Myron", he began for Kailyn, "and tell you what, I'll bet ten lien to each of you that you won't find out exactly what my Semblance is before we eventually spar. Here's your clue." As he said that, he kept their fists in contact and let Sleeping Spell filter through it. If they stayed like that for a few seconds, their fingers would start to feel like the very beginning of frostbite, then back to normal soon after with light pins and needles.

This guy skipped squad year? Something must have come up outside of school then, and far be it from Kailyn to ask questions about that, or even THINK to hard about that.

Ahh, so that's what it was short for. That... wasn't terrible, honestly. Kailyn levitated a bit as she considered the nickname. "It's better than Gravity Girl, so I'll take it."

Myron. 'Perfumed oil', his name meant. And she was getting a sneak preview of his Semblance, apparently. It was clear from his posture that whatever it was required contact, so she held the fist bump. "Hmmm..." she said as her hand started to feel a bit weird. Cold? She touched two fingers from her free hand to the back of her fist. Nope, not cold. What else caused that feeling? Was he putting her hand to sleep or something?

When the feeling needled back in to her knuckles, she snapped her fingers a few times, testing the feeling before it faded completely. "Is that real, or psychosomatic?" she asked.
