A flying piece of wooden shrapnel the size of her finger sliced across her cheek. The pain was the shock needed to turn her jellied legs into rigid again and focus her eyes on the threat. A Megoliath, a Grimm the size of a building with tusks the size of carriages smashed through the treeline, splinters flying and charged at her.
She fell flat on her face in her rush to turn around and run, legs catching on the other. Kiera let out a small cry as she untangled her legs, the ground shaking with the stomping weight of the monster closing in on her. Her hand almost uprooted a nearby bush she used to haul herself up, the plant crushed immediately after by the foot of the massive beast. She had no idea where her bow went, probably crushed already, and thus had nothing to defend herself. Her legs pumped and moved her frantically through the trees, her experience the only thing keeping her from tripping on exposed roots. She had no idea where she was going, only away, and the sound of her heart beating in her ears kept her from thinking straight! The Grimm didn't wind through the trees, wasn't nimble in it's travel. It just shattered the pine trees to kindling as it chased her down.
The shock of the earth from every footstep jerked Kiera from the floor, she stumbled into a roll that ended with another shake and launch into the air, her arms windmilling before her feet landed, and she recovered into a run. It continued like that for some time, Kiera mentally screaming in her head and wishing that the shaking ground would stop, that she could walk over it! Tears streamed down her face as she cried in utter terror at the thing, roaring and continuing to destroy nature itself to get at her, her legs burning but pushing despite the pain. Kiera closed her eyes in a silent plea for someone to help her, to save her, as she ran and ran.
And she wasn't touching the ground anymore. For a moment she thought she had died, but her legs still hurt and she still heard the thing coming after her, and her legs were still moving, running. There was a loud high-pitched roaring sound from the Grimm, and she opened her eyes and turned to see the Megoliath screeching to a halt far too late, tipping, and tumbling off the side of a cliff. It was a several hundred foot drop at least, and she watched it fall, red hate-filled eyes still locked on her, past the treetops below.
Below?
She looked down at her feet. And blinked. She stood on open air. 50 feet from the cliff's edge. She looked up and blinked again in despair, waiting for her turn to fall to her death.
But she didn't. Wiping tears from her face, she slowly stepped back to the cliff, landing and falling to the grassy cliffside in sweet relief. Confusion and fear still gripped her, but slowly those parted for realization and excitement. Her standing on open air like that... Could only be her Semblance.
Yes
