Physical Description:
Argus is a broad shouldered and sturdily built individual, there’s no doubt he’d look right at home in labor or working a farm. Long fingers toughened with calluses greet those he offers his hand to, each one a milestone of training, tinkering or simply being alive. His skin is fair and his body is a healthy balance of muscle and fat culminated via a stringent diet and a consistent training regimen. “I can walk you through it if you’re interested”

Come strife or progress it's clear that Argus has prepared himself for the best physical returns Beacon’s lessons can offer.

A tousle of hair the color of dry dirt frames his face in a close cropped fashion for convenience. Darker eyebrows rest above a pair of soft dispassionate brown eyes. An aquiline nose erupts from Argus’ long face and flanking either side of said face are a pair of small ears.
Outfit Description:
“-A huntsman’s each choice of attire should have purpose.”
While not very complex, Argus' typical attire is focused around comfort and practicality. Argus wears a white shirt “good for noticing unnoticed bleeds” under a green coat with bronze buttons “Durable yet breathable material.” Over this sits an orange sash/ toga. “A large swath of fabric that can easily be fashioned into bandages, a lean-to, patch clothing, …” He usually wears a black fingerless glove over his right (dominant) hand to avoid excessive blisters from gripping his weapon. On his left arm is a bronze colored bracer. A simple belt “also an excellent tourniquet” is looped through a pair of similarly reliable shorts. A pair of Greaves matching his bracer protects his legs and a thick set of boots protect his feet.
Personality Description:
Intelligent, calculating, and direct. Argus approaches the world around him as if it were a question, always doing his best to understand and determine what to do with whatever life throws at him. In a crisis, every question matters and for Argus it can be hard to “turn off” that priority. In his day-to-day life some of the most trivial choices are often what take him the longest to decide. “Every action needs a reason, otherwise why do it?” To some this can make him come off as stubborn or impersonal as he fluctuates between grinding mental gears over a favorite color and having an answer prepped with an explanation before you can ask him what he’d like to eat.

In conversation Argus is best described as blunt, often forgoing the social rituals of small talk in favor of more direct communication. If he’s coming to talk to you, it’s either because he has something to talk to you about, or because he thinks you want to be talked to. This isn’t to say that Argus is anti-social, after all Beacon is founded on the idea of cooperation and teamwork. In truth he’s quite a good listener and is a good shoulder to lean on, he can even be quite chatty if you ask enough questions. If Argus chooses to befriend you it won’t be something he did on a whim, but a conscious decision to invest trust in you.

Upon first meeting formality is the foremost impression of Argus. He speaks with an authority and purpose worthy of his mother’s military background and his father’s clinical lectures. Don’t be fooled though as Argus’ official air belies a somewhat rebellious nature. Much like how no plan survives first contact, rules can quickly become obstacles. Given the right justification Argus would break the rules of nature themselves if that was what’s required.
Backstory Highlights:
-Argus Braun was born in Vale and raised in the agricultural district. His father was employed as an agricultural engineer and his mother was a teacher, though formerly she was Atlesian military.

-At a young age Argus would sneak outside the walls one night curious of the grim having only ever heard of them. He would be attacked by grim though physically he would remain mostly unharmed. This is thanks to a nearby huntress who had followed Argus after spotting the child skulking near the walls.

-Over time Argus would refocus his interests. He’d once been carefree, unsure and unworried of his future and his wants. In place of those behaviors was a more contemplative and cautious person. He would seclude himself in studies and exercise, all his activities scheduled with an almost neurotic dedication. Finally he would let his parents know about his goal of becoming a huntsman. His mother would object while his father would attempt to mediate between the two. Eventually it would become clear to both of them that he was dead set on this.

-Being citizens of Vale, learning about Huntsmen and Huntresses was simple. Beacon was prestigious for the quality of its graduates and thus Vale had a thriving market focused on the distribution of student supplies and texts related to the subject. Argus’ mother would also help to refine his physical training and preparation.

Before enrolling officially in Beacon Argus tutored under several retiree Huntsmen as well as interviewing dropouts from the years prior. Self-tutoring with the help of various study materials procured from past students helped with the academics. As for the physical, what he knows is a combination of big-game hunting, self-defense courses, and a few personal lessons from the aforementioned huntsmen.

Semblance Description:
An extrasensory semblance that allows Argus to analyze his environment. Argus is capable of seeing through solid objects much like a living x-ray machine. “To those concerned about peeping, it doesn’t work like that.” This semblance is limited by several factors, range, depth, and complexity. To use it on something far away and/or to see through multiple layers of thick material takes a concerted effort as well as an increased draw from his aura compared to its low passive aura draw. Finally the complexity of an object can make understanding what he’s looking at confusing. Examples would be as follows. Say you approach with a concealed transforming weapon, He could see that you had something but unless its form at the time resembled a weapon he wouldn’t know what it was. Using it Argus is able to take in details about his environment and opponents and exploit them.

(OOC imagine something similar to the bat vision in the arkham games, eagle vision from assassins creed, etc. It functions as a utility ability for analysis but I understand that metagaming may be a concern but know that I have no intention of using any ooc information that isn’t consented to or stated as something already discernible.)

Weapon Description:
Made of similar bronze and jade materials to his armor, Vronti is a dual mode weapon consisting of a Pike and Shotgun which serves to ward off Grimm of all size and shape. While in its shotgun configuration the weapon is equipped with a slamfire mechanism and hair trigger, meaning that the fire-rate is completely up to the user’s ability. Depending on the ammunition used Vronti is a powerful close to mid range weapon. A heat shield on the barrel helps to protect the wielder should he need to use the pike configuration shortly after a barrage. The pike meanwhile is equipped with a crossguard below the blade to keep opponents from forcing their way down the haft once impaled. The firing function of the shotgun assembly is still fully functional while in this mode and capable of devastating damage if already lodged in the target when fired.

A compass, his scroll, and a cleaning kit for Vronti are usually on his person.
Fighting Style:
“Look before you leap.”
A battle is often won before it begins and Argus’ fighting style reflects this. Often he will focus on staying defensive, evaluating his opponent while trying to bait out attacks to tire them out. It’s not uncommon to see him retreat to find a more advantageous position to use against his enemy. Once an understanding is met, or if given no other option, Argus’ fighting style flips. Aggressive pinpoint assaults on singular points to cripple his opponent’s strengths before committing to the final blow.
Strengths:
Physically Argus is built like a truck and can hit like one if given the opportunity. Being used to long hours of study and exercise have reinforced his endurance to an admirable degree. In the social arena Argus is never afraid to step up and take the reins in a dire situation. He is also a natural organizer, making sure to distribute the right people to where they might be needed.
Weaknesses:
Being of a cautious sort Argus can have difficulty with first time encounters both physical and social. Every approach to a situation requires prior information and a gameplan, which can leave him fumbling as he tries to adapt.
