With each gaze, one can glimpse the fire burning within—a dance of the flames of mischief and the hottest blaze of resolve to protect those he holds dear.

Emblazoned upon his back shoulder lies a tattoo of a monkey in an aggressive stance, the sacred seal of the Dasheng family. Etched into his skin with intricate detail, the tattoo serves as a visual representation of his lineage and heritage, a constant reminder of the weight of his familial obligations and the legacy he carries upon his shoulders.

But it is perhaps Aurum's Faunus heritage that sets him apart most distinctly. His long, prehensile tail, matching the hue of his hair, serves as both a practical appendage and a symbolic extension of his identity. Whether coiled around his waist in repose or twitching with anticipation, his tail adds an element of fluidity to his movements.

Adorning his skin are black markings, reminiscent of wispy clouds or ink spills, a manifestation of his family's unique semblance. Passed down through generations, these markings hold a deep significance, symbolizing the bonds, or rather shackles in his eyes, that tie Aurum to his ancestry and the power that flows through his veins.

In every aspect, Aurum embodies the legacy of the Dasheng clan—a legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering loyalty. As he strides through the world of Remnant, his presence commands attention, a testament to the indomitable spirit that drives him forward on his journey.

Minimalistic yet sturdy shoulder guards rest on his shoulders. Made from a brass alloy, they are polished to a soft sheen and shaped to provide coverage without hindering his agility.

His pants are fitted but flexible, crafted from a black, stretchable fabric reinforced with subtle gold threading for durability. They taper toward his boots, ensuring they do not impede his fluid movements in battle. Over his pants, he wears a split-tabbed skirt overlay, made of layered cloth and leather. These panels, which fall to just below his knees, are adorned with subtle cloud-like patterns in gold, symbolizing his connection to his family’s legacy. His knee-high combat boots are reinforced with metal soles and toe caps, built to withstand the weight of his weapon while providing excellent grip and flexibility. The boots are designed for both combat and traversal, featuring straps and buckles for a secure fit. Brass accents on the boots tie them visually to the rest of his armor.

A wide leather belt, secured with a golden clasp etched with his family’s insignia, sits around his waist. The belt features small pouches for carrying dust vials, tools, and other essentials. Flowing from the belt is a long red sash, hanging loosely at his side. The sash adds a vibrant pop of color to his otherwise subdued palette, symbolizing his family heritage and pride.

Draped over his left shoulder is a half-cape, dyed a deep crimson. The fabric is reinforced with dust-infused fibers, offering light protection while also serving as a visual representation of his heritage. It flows elegantly behind him as he moves, adding a sense of majesty to his otherwise practical attire.

Aurum’s long, prehensile tail is adorned with a simple brass ring near its base, engraved with cloud motifs that mirror his other accessories.

Yet, beneath his composed exterior lies a restlessness, a yearning to escape the shadow of his family’s criminal dealings and define himself on his own terms. Torn between the honor of his lineage and his disdain for its darker practices, Aurum struggles to reconcile the expectations placed upon him with the ideals he holds dear.

Despite the burdens he carries, Aurum’s charisma and sense of humor shine through in his interactions with others. His natural wit and playful nature provide a balance to his otherwise stoic demeanor, endearing him to friends and teammates. He is fiercely protective of those he loves, particularly his younger sister, Genni, who serves as a grounding force and a reminder of the familial bonds he values most. This protective instinct fuels his drive as a Huntsman, as he channels his strength not for power, but to safeguard those who cannot defend themselves.

He despises unnecessary cruelty and exploitation, which often places him at odds with his family’s more ruthless methods. His journey is one of self-discovery and purpose—a balance between honoring the strength and resilience of his ancestry while breaking free from its darker chains. This internal conflict, paired with his unwavering determination, makes Aurum both a formidable warrior and a deeply human figure, striving to leave a legacy of his own making.
Backstory Highlights:
Aurum, originally without a name until the age of five, was born into the esteemed Dasheng family, renowned as an elite Monkey Faunus clan. Publicly recognized as a political and economic powerhouse, the Dashengs wielded influence that extended far and wide. However, beneath their veneer of prestige lay a darker truth known to those familiar with the underground. Aurum was raised amidst tales of Faunus oppression and the simmering racial tensions plaguing Remnant. He was taught to believe in the righteousness of radical Faunus groups, viewing his clan as benefactors who supplied resources, funds, and even manpower to support their cause.

Upon receiving his name, Aurum, signifying his future leadership as the head of the clan, he ascended to the status of an elite, almost regal, member of the Dasheng Clan. This transition marked the beginning of intensive training under the tutelage of the clan's finest masters. His education encompassed a multifaceted approach, focusing on physical prowess to combat Grimm, Faunus, and humans alike. Under the rigorous guidance of his instructors, he honed his combat skills and strategic acumen, preparing for the challenges that lay ahead. Additionally, he delved into the intricacies of market dynamics, learning the nuances of trade and commerce to further bolster his family's influence and power.

As a child, Aurum's days were consumed by grueling physical conditioning, laying the groundwork for his formidable skills. From dawn till dusk, he pushed himself to the limit, balancing on his hands, navigating his chores with only his tail and feet, or defying gravity by hanging upside down to avoid the scorching heat of boiling water. Rest was a luxury he seldom enjoyed, often interrupted by rigorous study sessions delving into his family's history and beliefs.

Under the watchful eye of his grandfather, who shared his namesake, Aurum's training took on an even greater intensity. The elder Aurum oversaw every aspect of his grandson's development, pushing him to his limits and beyond. There were days when Aurum found himself nursing injuries, his arm in a sling after intense sparring sessions with the clan's best fighters. Yet, through adversity, he learned the harsh lesson that his enemies would exploit any weakness, instilling in him a ruthless determination to always be prepared for the challenges ahead.

As Aurum transitioned into his teenage years, his training regimen shifted towards intensive combat preparation. Armed with real weapons, he engaged in relentless sparring sessions, wielding the Iron Staff—a scaled-down version of the legendary Dasheng Legacy, the clan's iconic weapon. Despite being a lighter training version, the Iron Staff still weighed over one hundred pounds, a formidable burden for Aurum to bear. However, the weight of his training staff was but a fraction of the Dasheng Legacy's, which was known to be significantly heavier.

Nights offered little respite as Aurum collapsed onto his bedding, the weight of his training staff a constant reminder of his dedication. His skills honed to perfection, Aurum emerged victorious in most sparring matches, deflecting every attack with precision and agility. Impressed by his grandson's prowess, Aurum's grandfather sanctioned his enrollment at Beacon, recognizing the need for Aurum to confront the looming threat of the Grimm. Thus, Aurum embarked on the next phase of his journey, ready to face the challenges that awaited him at the prestigious academy.

During his time at Beacon, Aurum immersed himself in the vast knowledge available, eagerly absorbing every lesson and often spending hours taking copious notes and devouring books from the library. His fascination with Grimm combat only deepened, finding joy in the challenges they presented and relishing every opportunity to spar with his peers. However, it wasn't until he crossed paths with a fellow student named Leon that Aurum truly found a kindred spirit in combat.

From their first encounter, a fierce rivalry sparked between Aurum and Leon, driving them to push each other to greater heights. Determined to surpass his newfound rival, Aurum threw himself into training, forming a close bond with Leon and their team members. Together, they faced countless challenges, each one strengthening their resolve and sharpening their skills. With a smile on his face and a steadfast determination, Aurum vowed to never let his rival soar without him, forging ahead on their journey as Huntsmen with unwavering camaraderie and ambition.

However, amidst his rigorous training and academic pursuits, Aurum never forgot his younger sister, Argenti, affectionately nicknamed Genni. Despite sharing blood, Genni was considered of lower rank within the clan due to her physical attributes being akin to the 'silvers.' Nonetheless, Aurum cherished their bond, often drawing strength from memories of their shared childhood. As he pursued his dreams at Beacon, Aurum carried Genni's spirit with him, a constant reminder of the family he fought to protect and the legacy he originally sought to uphold.

Weapon Name:
Dasheng Legacy
Weapon Description:
Dasheng Legacy is a family heirloom passed down from generations of past Dasheng heads to their successors as soon as they pass a trial long standing traditions that push the young till either they break or they pass and take the iron staff as their own, changing it to make it suit them. When the weapon was passed to Aurum it was red in color and still held that unruly weight, the one aspect of the weapon no single successor was able to change and sprouted the myth that the weight came from the responsibilities that came with the weapon and position of heir.

Currently the Bō staff is reaching seven feet in length and weighing in at three hundred pounds, making it practically unwieldy and useless for almost everyone else, unless it lies in the hands of Aurum and then he makes the burden and hinderance of the weight one of its greatest strengths. After removing the last of the traditional wooden markings and decorations that laid across the metal staff, he then replaced it with a harder and stronger brass and changing out the steel plating and then the abhorred red color, making it a gunmetal grey steel instead. After installing the appropriate pipes for dust, the staff was finished off when he inserted the hard light modules into both ends of the staff and finally installing the dust magazine set to the side.

The Dasheng Legacy provides two forms for Aurum to utilize in combat with each providing both advantages and disadvantages alongside them. The first being the staff without being loaded with dust and the second having dust inserted and the staff powered.

Without being loaded the staff acts and behaves as one would expect of a heavy metal staff but with a few interesting features. The first being is that it can come apart to form two quarter staffs, each reaching three and a half feet and weighing in one hundred and fifty pounds. The next feature can only be used when dust isn’t added to the staff, the hard light modules retract themselves and giving an opening so that blades can extend out on both sides.

When Dasheng’s Legacy is filled with dust it becomes a completely different weapon available for Aurum’s arsenal. The hard light modules set their positions to the ends of the staff and activate, extending beams of hard light that Aurum is able to determine the length and size with the control panels hidden away underneath several sensors that only activate and work to his touch. The maximum length of the hard light modules is capable of providing up to twenty extra feet that are shared between both sides. This means if he uses all twenty feet of hard light on Side A, Side B won’t have any hard light to produce until Side A retracts some of it. The staff is also able to increase in size to about a foot in diameter and with that so will the hard light at the cost of its length, it will then make the maximum only ten feet that is shared. The hard light itself is as strong as the staff itself and will retract either when Aurum deactivates it himself, or the magazine runs out of dust charges. A magazine loaded with 10 charges will last about thirty minutes at maximum power and use for each charge.
Other Gear:
A Dasheng Family Pendant is a brass emblem shaped like swirling clouds, symbolizing the family’s semblance. A small amber gemstone at its center represents strength and determination. Worn on a leather cord, the pendant hides a secret compartment with a dust vial, reflecting the family’s ingenuity.

The Dasheng Family Journal is a weathered leather tome embossed with the family crest. Passed down through generations, it contains entries from every previous head, chronicling their battles, strategies, and reflections. Its pages hold combat techniques, insights on semblance mastery, and leadership philosophies. Aurum has added his own notes, blending his aspirations with the wisdom of his predecessors.

The Dasheng Peaches Pouch is a red leather bag stamped with the family crest. Inside are dried peaches from the family orchard, a sentimental reminder of his sister and childhood. Durable and practical, the pouch also includes a hidden dust vial for emergencies.

• Aurum’s rigorous upbringing has gifted him incredible strength, endurance, and agility, making him a physically dominant combatant. His ability to wield the Dasheng Legacy with precision, despite its immense weight, sets him apart from most fighters.

• His monkey Faunus traits, particularly his tail, provide exceptional balance and mobility, allowing for acrobatic maneuvers and rapid adjustments during combat.

2. Martial Mastery

• Years of training with elite instructors have made Aurum a highly skilled fighter, capable of adapting to multiple weapon forms and combat styles. His ability to transition seamlessly between offensive, defensive, and evasive techniques makes him a formidable opponent.

3. Semblance Synergy

• Iron Nimbus grants him unparalleled offensive and defensive capabilities, hardening his limbs for devastating strikes and increased resilience.

• Cloud Walker enhances his mobility and survivability, allowing him to phase through attacks, reposition, and recover mid-battle.

4. Strategic Thinking

• Aurum’s education in leadership and tactics enables him to analyze battlefield conditions and make calculated decisions under pressure. He excels at exploiting enemy weaknesses and turning unfavorable situations to his advantage.

5. Weapon Versatility

• The Dasheng Legacy’s adaptability, combined with Aurum’s mastery over its configurations, allows him to handle a wide range of combat scenarios, from close-quarters duels to long-range engagements.

6. Resilience and Determination

• Years of grueling training have instilled in Aurum a relentless drive to overcome adversity. Pain and fatigue are simply obstacles to be conquered, and he rarely falters in the face of challenges.
Weaknesses:
1. Overreliance on the Dasheng Legacy

• Aurum’s fighting style is heavily dependent on his weapon. While he is a capable unarmed fighter, losing access to the Dasheng Legacy significantly diminishes his combat effectiveness, particularly against skilled or well-armed opponents.

2. Semblance Limitations

• Both Iron Nimbus and Cloud Walker consume significant stamina and focus, particularly when used in prolonged engagements. Overuse can leave him physically and mentally drained, making him vulnerable in extended fights.

• Cloud Walker’s smoke form provides no offensive capabilities while active, limiting his ability to retaliate during evasion.

3. Heavy Weapon Drawbacks

• The sheer weight of the Dasheng Legacy, while a strength in Aurum’s hands, can limit his speed and agility in prolonged combat. Against particularly fast opponents, he may struggle to land decisive strikes.

4. Emotional Burden

• Aurum carries the weight of his family’s expectations and the complex legacy of their role in Faunus society. This can cloud his judgment, particularly when faced with situations that challenge his beliefs or pit his family’s interests against his ideals.

5. Stamina-Dependent Style

• His fighting style is physically demanding, requiring immense stamina to maintain peak performance. In fights that drag on too long, or against enemies who can exploit his fatigue, Aurum risks losing his edge.

6. Rigid Upbringing

• While his education has given him an edge, it also instilled certain blind spots. His initial worldview, shaped by the Dasheng clan’s ideology, may lead to biases that can be exploited by more cunning or deceptive foes.

7. Crowd Vulnerability Without Dust

• In the Dasheng Legacy’s unpowered form, Aurum excels in single combat or small skirmishes but struggles against large groups of enemies. The powered dust configuration is critical for area control, and if unavailable, he can be overwhelmed.
